They are local to me, and do a good job with things that are strictly electronics, like replacing transistors on I/O boards, but I'm not sure they can handle anything with proprietary EPROM.Ī couple quick questions. I've also had very good luck with Allied Instrument Service: We haven't used ART, although we did talk to them. No one said this was to be check with order, and I'm pissed, to put it mildly. Unfortunately, they are getting off on the wrong foot they sent the quote, we accepted it and signed it, two weeks later we come to find they have been sitting on our job, waiting for a check. I currently have a board out with ACS, because they advertise that they will pre-quote what the repair will cost. To their credit, they did get the job done. We did find three places that claim to service Unilog 2040 control, and they may be able to service the older control as well:ĮRD did get the job done, but they seemed to have no system in house with which to test boards, we ended up having to determine what was the minimum equipment the control would boot with, then pull all of it (power supply, card cage and all) and send it down to them. Yeah, I can just imagine what that will cost.

I haven't tried it because even when it was still Battenfeld of America with a service organization in this country, they basically washed their hands of the Bachmann Unilog control, telling us that they np longer use that control, and would have to send it back to the supplier. They do have a toll free tech line, which connects you with the service department in Kottingbrunn.

Yes, the company ownership is American, but all support is handled from the factory in Austria.

They seem to be wanting to concentrate on supplying cheap machines to the growing markets in asia. It appears from the Wittmann-Battenfeld web site that they have all but abandoned the North American market. I run a 1995 BA 600, and all I can say is, "You poor bastard…" Ours has had several repairs to the Unilog 2040 control.
